Novel approach to keeping work fresh
New genre for author
Owen Mullen will take readers on “a slightly different path” with his latest novel.
The renowned Coatbridge author released his fifth published book, In Harm’s Way, earlier this week and the work has already won critical acclaim from industry insiders.
The book is a departure from Owen’s private investigator Charlie Cameron crime series, instead telling the story of a psychological drama set in Glasgow.
Owen told the Advertiser: “In Harm’s Way is about a woman who is abducted near her home and the impact it has on her family.
“My previous books have focused on private detectives but this focuses more on a family dynamic.
“It goes down a slightly different path from my earlier work and I’ve already had some tremendous feedback ahead of its release this week.
“I had a really good experience writing In Harm’s Way as I took time to try and establish exactly who the characters were going to be.
“I am very, very pleased with the final outcome and can’t wait for people to read it.”
Owen, who splits his time between his Kirkshaws home and a Greek villa, is also celebrating one of his previous novels getting an international flavour.
He explained: “My Charlie Cameron novel Games People Play has been translated into German and is set for a global release.
“It’s very exciting to see my work travel around the world and the more people who get the chance to sample it the better.
“I’ve written 12 books in all and I still get a great thrill when I see the work get released into the public eye.”
In Harm’s Way is on sale now from Amazon, Waterstones and all good bookstores.
