Research supports Rob’s experience

A hard-working mum is “feeling fabulous” after reaching her target weight just five months on from giving birth to her third daughter.

Debra Toal, 39, has shed just shy of two-and-a-half stones to wow her fellow members of Plains Slimming World.

The Caldercruix teacher managed to find time between looking after her three daughters and working with her pupils in the classroom to bid farewell to her baby weight.

Debra told the Advertiser: “I had my baby girl five months ago and was a little concerned about losing the weight I had put on during my pregnancy.

“But, thanks to the support of my Slimming World friends, I have managed to lose nearly two-and-a-half stones to reach A Coatbridge slimming expert says there’s no need for anyone looking to lose weight to go hungry.

That’s because research has revealed that filling up on low-energy dense foods is more likely to lead to weight loss success than counting calories and cutting portion sizes.

Rob Watson-Worlidge, Slimming World’s team developer for Coatbridge, claimed the key for anyone wanting to shed the pounds is to eat more – not less.

The research came as no surprise to Rob, who supports 10 consultants in the town, as he explained: “I tried so many fads when I decided I wanted to lose weight – skipping meals, food replacement shakes, even the cabbage soup diet. You name it, I did it.

“I was just desperate to get quick results.

“Yes, I lost weight at first, but I only put it all back on again because I felt too restricted and deprived.

“I felt so ashamed at ‘failing’ too. You can’t keep that up for long.

“When I joined Slimming World everything changed. From the very first week I learned that actually, you can feel full and lose weight enjoying all your favourite dishes, just by making small changes to the way you shop, cook and eat.

“I eat more than I ever did before, I just eat smarter. That’s why this research really doesn’t surprise me.

“My members know they don’t have to weigh, count or measure everything they eat to lose weight.

“They don’t have to give anything up or ever go hungry thanks to Slimming World’s Free Food.

“It’s a lifestyle, not a quick fix, and something that can be kept up forever.”

Through his team developer role, Rob has opened an additional five groups in Coatbridge.

He said: “It’s been a pleasure working with new consultants and supporting them to support even more members.

“But we need more, there are still so many people who don’t know about Slimming World and the benefits it brings.

“I have opportunities available now in Coatbridge, and some in Airdrie, for brand new consultants to help us spread the news you can eat more and lose weight.”
