Gail has lost 10st in less than two years

-

A fighting-fit Airdrie woman has gone from being out of breath while walking to preparing to run the London Marathon.

Gail Tennant has shed an astonishing 10 stones-plus in less than two years.

She decided to turn to Slimming World to improve her health and wellbeing and her improvement since has been so dramatic she now leads a group for national organisation Jog Scotland.

Lynn Johnston, consultant at Gail’s Springfield community centre Slimming World group, said: “Gail joined the class in January of 2017 and her transformation has been nothing short of remarkable.

“She has lost more than 10 stones and was a finalist for woman of the year for our district.

“Gail is a leader for Jog Scotland and is the only one of our Scottish members to be selected to run the London Marathon next year.

“She is also a part of the group’s social team and is a tremendous help to me and her fellow members.”

Lynn, who runs three Slimming World groups in Airdrie, is another shining example of what can be achieved as part of the organisation.

She explained:“I joined Slimming World two years ago after a humiliating experience on a plane when I had to hide the fact I couldn’t fit into the seat-belt, with the air hostess then asking me, in front of everyone, if I required an extension.

“I couldn’t walk or climb stairs without being out of breath, and was taking anti-depressants and blood pressure tablets.

“But I have now lost more than 13 stones and I’m able to put back into the community.

“Last year, a few members of our group climbed Ben Lomond for charity and this year I completed the 13-mile walk for St Andrew’s Hospice.

“Long-term success and happiness is my goal for each new and existing member who walks through my door.”

Lynn’s groups get together at Springfield community centre, and Calderbank and St Columba’s churches.
