Perfect trios rule the roost in league clash

Grand total of 17 thrown in six fixtures

- Andrew Bargh

An incredible number of 180s were scored in this week’s Airdrie and District darts league.

A total of 17 perfect trios were thrown in six fixtures as the Horseshoe Bar maintained their 100 per cent record.

In contrast, the Boarshead picked up their first win of the season by beating the Wilson Arms 7-5.

Andy McCorqoudale started the game with a 20-dart win for the home side but Wilsons were soon in front.

Another 20-dart win with a 180 for Pat Lafferty and a replication of that from Jonathan McIntyre kept them in front.

A 180 from Jason Fairley kept the visitors in control but poor finishing and a better displace in the pairs matches got the Boarshead back into the game and a victory in the final pairs game secured the points.

In Caldercruix, The Clansman was defeated 9-3 by The Swan.

The home side are struggling to find their usual good form, although Paul McGinley and Iain Randall gave them some cheers with two 180s.

The Swan proved to be too strong and Gordon Lauchlan, Alex Gordon and Lachie Black all turned in good performances to see the visitors run out convincing winners.

The Post recovered from last week’s hiccup to bulldoze past the West End Bar.

Peter McKenzie got the show on the road with a 180 and a 20-dart win.

In truth, the West Enders were simply outclassed and Paul Cushden and Tommy Rodman both performed superbly.

Martin Moulds and Stuart Ferguson both notched 180s for the home side too in a tie that finished 804.

The Eagle dropped a point at home to local rivals the Bank Club as the match ended 6-6.

Despite Craig McKinnon’s 21-dart win The Eagle never showed what they are capable of and will consider the stalemate a disappointing result.

Workmens B got the win away to The Barnyard, but they didn’t have it all their own way.

Jack Stevenson and Ricky Grant scored 180s to keep the hosts in the game but their opponents hit back strongly to take the points, with Gerry Brown, Scott Gibb, Cammy Reynolds and Davy Cunningham all performing well in the 8-4 win.

Unbeaten Horseshoe had little threat from The Workmens A on their travels but Chris Fawcett did manage a 180 for the home team.

Graham Anderson and Andy Thompson both played well, though, and Frank Quinn and Cammy Menzies both chipped in to make the score 9-3 and keep the Horseshoe at the top of the table. RESULTS: Barnyard 4 Workmens B 8, Workmens A 3 Horseshoe 9, Boarshead 7 Wilson Arms 5, Clansman 3 The Swan 9, The Post 8 West End 4, The Eagle 6 Bank Club 6.
