Singer Pete looks on the bright side
Third album attracts interest
Pete MacLeod is thrilled by the “wonderful response” to his third album.
The Kirkwood singer-songwriter released ‘Walk to the Light’ last month and says it is well on its way to matching the success of ‘Rolling Stone’ and ‘Crestfallen’.
Pete once again teamed up with top producer Youth on his latest album, with the former Embrace, Dido and The Verve collaborator also playing bass on several tracks.
Pete said: “It’s great to see and hear the wonderful response the album has received from fans and musicians.
“I am thrilled to hear such positive feedback and it makes it feel like all of the hard work put into delivering the album was more than worthwhile.”
‘Walk to the Light’ also features a contribution from Oasis and Beady Eye guitarist Andy Bell on the elegiac closer ‘Saudade’.
Other album highlights include the upbeat, funky ‘I Need Your Love’, the sunshine popinflected ‘California Son’ and the reflective title song.
Describing the lyrical content of the record, Pete said: “I went a little deeper and darker with some of the songs, although the emphasis is more a spiritual one in regard to the overall feel.
“My belief is that, no matter what you are going through, it’s important not to doubt yourself and others but instead walk to the light, get through the tunnel, take it all in and don’t be frightened of what may lie ahead.
“We will all leave here one day and also lose others while we are here but my attitude is that I welcome the experiences I’ve had.
“I also welcome the unknown and the overall journey.”
