Volunteers’ work in spotlight at awards
Two Monklands groups were recognised at the It’s Your Neighbourhood awards.
Glenboig Development Trust and Airdrie- based Friends of Centenary and West End Parks each received level-five “outstanding” awards plus certificates of distinction for their environmental projects.
They were among groups from across Scotland who attended a presentation ceremony in Stirling, run by Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB), to receive their honours.
KSB trustee board chair Lindsay Montgomery said: “Every group recognised has played a vital role in helping to create more vibrant communities. They have made a significant difference to neighbourhoods the length and breadth of the country.
“Their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment has helped to deliver local environmental improvements across the country.”
Run in conjunction with the Royal Horticultural Society, the It’s Your Neighbourhood awards are non-competitive and emphasise community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement.
