Gwen’s hit her marker
A Coatbridge slimmer who used to feel“very self-conscious”about her appearance in now“full of confidence”after shedding three stones in 10 months.
Gwen Sloan has now reached her target weight and been hailed as“an inspiration”to her fellow members at St Andrew’s High School’s Slimming World group.
Explaining what made her turn to the weightloss organisation, Gwen said:“I hadn’t felt happy in myself, or comfortable in my clothes, and was very self-conscious about my appearance.
“Family and friends would tell me I was fine the way I was and didn’t need to lose weight, but I knew myself that I had to do something.
“Heart disease and, more recently, cancer have been a part of my family’s health history and I needed to make changes to help reduce my chances of this becoming my future.”
Gwen added:“I joined St Andrew’s High Slimming World in January this year and I’ve never looked back.
“It’s such a welcoming and encouraging group and the support from my consultant Rachel and the other members is fantastic.
“The plan is perfect for me; no food is off limits and you just need to know how to optimise it and make good, healthy choices.
“It has meant a dramatic change of lifestyle; I would go swimming and attend pilates before, but more recently I’ve started a circuits class and joined a gym.
“I go there two-to-three times a week because now I have the energy to do so.
“I’ve been approached by my trainer at the gym to be put forward as an North Lanarkshire legend, showing my progress.
“Walking through those doors at Slimming World has made such a change to my life and I can’t thank Rachel and the class enough.”
Consultant Rachel Clements said:“Gwen is an inspiration to our group; she never misses a class and is always the first on hand to help and support others.
“She is a very kind lady and a pillar of the group.”
