Bullying behaviour must be eradicated

-

Dear Editor, I write regarding Steve Kemlo’s intimidation at St Andrew’s High (Advertiser, October 31).

I think it is a disgrace the way this young man has been treated, through no fault of his own, in a place where he is supposed to feel safe and be educated.

This has gone on far too long and something should have been done a long time ago to put a stop to it.

St Andrew’s professes to have an antibullying policy, and yet this young man has had to put up with all sorts of abuse for three years; instead of things getting better for him, it is getting steadily worse.

The people involved should have been dealt with at the beginning of the brutality and intimidation, the police should have been involved regarding the assaults and parents made to pay for any damage to his school uniform.

They should be named and shamed for what they are doing and parents made aware of what their boys or girls are doing, what they are capable of, and put a stop to it.

It is plain for everyone to see that this has not been taken seriously, and it is high time that it was.

The pupils concerned know they have got away with it for the past few years so will keep up the intimidation.

The head teacher should have a word with all pupils at assembly, and letters sent to all parents whether their children have been involved or not so they are all aware what is happening.

It could happen to one of their children at some point in the future, so they would be glad that something is done now.
