Raith Rovers .2 Airdrieoni­ans 0 A lack of cutting edge cost Airdrie in Fife as they were defeated 2-0 by Raith Rovers.

The visitors started brightly and Dale Carrick took the game’s first shot on goal, but it was saved by former Diamonds loanee Robbie Thomson.

Darryl Duffy sent an effort just wide moments later before Raith seized cont rol of proceeding­s.

Airdrie continued to pressure Raith and looked to be through on goal when Kyle Wilkie found Dale Carrick on the halfway line.

But Raith’s Iain Davidson accepted a yellow card for scything down the forward as he bore down on goal.

After weathering Airdrie’s storm, Raith netted their second.

Former Airdrie striker Liam Buchanan reacted quicker than a standstill Diamonds defence to knock the ball past Hutton on the half-hour mark.

Ian Murray introduced Conroy at half-time as Airdrie searched for a way back into the game.

Duffy went close with a curling effort from 25 yards before having a goal disallowed shortly after.

McIntosh should have scored on the hour mark when the ball fell to him five yards from goal, but Thomson managed to block his effort.

The keeper foiled Joao Victoria in the game’s dying embers as Airdrie’s winning run came to an end.
