Stephen opens second group

-

A Coatbridge man has celebrated his hugely successful first year as a weight loss consultant by opening a second group in the town.

Stephen Martin now runs weekly Slimming World sessions in Townhead parish church, adding to his class at the Masonic hall in Glenboig, his home village.

Stephen has firsthand experience of how effective the organisation is after he shed nearly 3st in less than a year – scooping man of the year and Mr Sleek prizes – during his time with Slimming World.

Responding to the launch of his new Townhead group, Stephen said:“Sessions will take place on Mondays at 5.30pm and Saturdays at 8.30am.

“It’s very exciting to take on a new group, especially so soon after launching my first group last year.

“New members will receive a very warm welcome along to both groups. I want people to feel how I feel and help them achieve their dreams; by coming to Slimming World they can do just that and I want to be part of their journey.”

After speaking with his mates about his concerns over his weight gain and hearing about their success in shedding stones, they recommended that Stephen join his local Slimming World group.

Stephen said:“The thought of this was unnerving. I felt very uncomfortable about going along and feared people would look at me and judge me.

“But I was at the point I was desperate and needed to make changes.

“I went along to the group and was surprised to see people laughing, smiling and enjoying themselves, as well as losing weight.

“I was getting excited hearing how people were still having the foods they loved while shedding the pounds.”

Stephen added:“As I started to lose weight my confidence slowly started to build and build and I became the person I wanted to be, with more belief in myself.

“I started working on my activity levels, increased how often I walked my dog and loved being out in the fresh air.”
