tribute show brings alive the magic of the era.

The Counterfeit Sixties Show, on September 7, encompasses everything from that period, from the clothes that were worn to flashbacks from television history, including TV programmes, adverts and even clips from the original bands.

The Counterfeit Sixties presents a showcase of the great bands of this unforgettable time.

The fantastic music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks and The Monkees – to name but a few – are all recreated in this stunning show.

The band members have performed their unique tribute shows all over the UK and abroad, and have a wide range of experience in that field.

The members of the band have individually worked with notable sixties’ artists such as The Searchers, The Ivy League, The Fortunes, The Tremeloes and many more.

Fresh from a series of shows around Scotland, Wishaw band Luna the Professor bagged themselves a slot at last weekend’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

The four-piece indie rockers had the chance to open the festival after winning an online competition with their hardcore fans making sure the group got the chance to open the Inverness festival, which boasted big names such as Lewis Capaldi, The Coral and former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.

Luna’s lead singer Johnny Irwin admitted the chance to be on the same stage as Mancunian icon Marr was too good to miss.

He said: “We were all absolutely buzzing when we found out we had won the competition.

“When you have guys like Johnny Marr on the same bill as you it doesn’t get better than that.

“Our lead guitarist Ross is a big fan of The Smiths and Johnny Marr is a big influence on him.

“He always plays a lot of their stuff and tries to get his riffs to sound like Johnny’s.

“We were told there was a competition so we put it up on Facebook and I think the whole of Wishaw must have voted for us.

“We ended with about 1700 votes. We only found out a couple of weeks ago that we had won so it has been a bit of a whirlwind.”

It’s been a big year for the lads after the successful release of their debut single.

After selling out a number of headline dates, the band set off on a short tour which kicked off in Dundee at the start of May before playing in Glasgow and Edinburgh later that same month.

The gigs were organised by This Feeling, a series of rock club nights across the UK who regularly put on tours for independent acts looking for exposure.

Since coming together in March of 2017, the young band have ticked many things off the bucket list.

Having sold out King Tut’s twice and playing at various other gigs up and down the country, the band are now looking to start releasing music to the world.

The band’s debut single You recently surpassed 20,000 streams on music streaming platform Spotify and is featured on many of the major rock playlists on there.

The single is described as “an anthemic, guitar-driven track exploring young love”. Johnny added: “The tour was brilliant for us. “If we could do that every week we would all be delighted.

“The gigs in Edinburgh and Glasgow sold out and we had a brilliant time up in Dundee.

“It was good to see a few familiar faces in the crowd along with a lot of new people we didn’t know.

“It was just great to be out there and it was well put together.”
