A Coatbridge rocker hit the airwaves after his music caught the ear of a national radio station.

Pete MacLeod took part in a live recorded session and interview on BBC Radio Wales’ Janice Long Show earlier this month.

The singer- songwriter has revealed the show’s presenter was a long-term fan of his work – and said it was a “great honour” to appear on the programme.

Pete, of Kirkwood, said: “I was absolutely honoured and humbled to be invited on the Janice Long Show.

“I can’t thank Janice enough for praising my music over the years and personally inviting me to do a live recorded session and interview.

“Appearing on the show was a fantastic experience and gave me the chance to expose a large audience to my music.

“People in Wales may not be aware of my songs, so them hitting the airwaves introduced the tracks to them on a hugely popular show.”

Pete performed songs from his hit third album, Walk To The Light, which was co-written by renowned producer Youth who has collaborated with the likes of Embrace and The Verve.

The mus i c i a n ’ s ra d i o appearance coincided with the culmination of his solo acoustic tour, which began in London in May and ended with a show at RHYL K-Fest in North Wales.

As well as his work with Youth, Pete’s Walk To The Light album also features contributions from Simon Tong and former Oasis guitarist Andy Bell.

Describing the lyrical content of the album, Pete added: “I went a little deeper and darker with some of the songs, although the emphasis is more a spiritual one.

“My belief is that, no matter what you are going through, it’s important not to doubt yourself and others but instead walk to the light, get through the tunnel and take it all in.

“We will all leave here one day, and also lose others while we are here, but my attitude is that I welcome the experiences I’ve had.”
