The nomination was for his role as Wallace in the independently produced feature-length movie Retreat.
Jason’s acting career has spanned almost 20 years and dovetailed with another trade as he attempted to make ends meet.
He said:“I was 23-years-old and working as a joiner when I decided on acting; since then I’ve been combining both; last year I decided to gamble and put my tools down to concentrate completely on acting.”

Music fans craving a hit of nostalgia will have the opportunity to satisfy their urges at two old school tribute nights.
Top tributes of a couple of the world’s most famous musical icons will rock ‘n’ roll into town in October.
The Elvis Years and The Cavern Beatles are set to bring the 60s and 70s to Motherwell Civic Centre and perform the hits that made the real-things legends of their industry.
Dust off your blue suede shoes to experience Mario Kombou, star of the West End’s Jailhouse Rock, showcase dozens of Elvis classics.
Backed by an all-star band and award- winning singers, he will cover 50 golden great tunes spanning more than three decades.
That’s Alright Mama, Suspicious Minds, It’s Now or Never, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog and Love me Tender are all on the setlist.
The show, on October 3, is complete with nostalgic film footage and costume change.
Only eight days later, there will be the opportunity to relive Beatlemania when The Cavern Beatles take to the stage in Motherwell.
The show is a Magical History Tour through the works of the greatest pop music phenomenon.
They replicate, in both sight and sound, the psychedelic era of Sgt Pepper and the creative masterpieces of The White Album and Abbey Road.
The band is one of only a handful worldwide that executes their entire show completely live, with just four musicians and no backing tracks or tapes being used in the performance.
The Cavern Beatles have drawn the attention of German music companies Hofner Guitars and Pyramid Strings, both of whom now endorse them with their products; added to this smooth sound are four costume changes and lighting which compliment the show.
