“I’ve reduced this amount from four months because of your guilty plea.

“You’ll be monitored and must stay in your home address between the hours of 7pm and 7am every night.”

The sheriff added: “On the failure to appear charge, I’ll fine you the sum of £100.”

Cop struggle after noise complaint

A Coatbridge man struggled with police officers after acting aggressively in a Moodiesburn property.

James Osbourne, 27, was violent towards police officers when they arrived at a property due to a noise complaint on February 16.

Osbourne, who lives in Glasgow, avoided serious punishment for his actions when he attended Airdrie Sheriff Court last week.

The procurator fiscal said: “At around 11.40pm, police were requested to attend the locus due to a noise complaint.

“When he answered he was intoxicated and irate, shouting, ‘what the f***’, ‘get to f***’, and ‘everyone in this close is a c***’.

“He began to struggle and was taken to Coatbridge police office.”

The fiscal also explained that police were called to Hillington West railway station in Glasgow last December due to Osbourne standing on the tracks while threatening to kill himself.

They managed to accost him after he challenged officers to a fight.

Osbourne’s defence solicitor, Paul Kelly, said: “The factor with this matter is alcohol, along with some mental health issues.

“He’s used alcohol as a coping mechanism for that.

“He had gone through a break-up and wasn’t dealing with it well.

“His record is spread over a number of years.”

Sheriff Frank Pieri informed Osbourne: “Level one unpaid work is appropriate here as an alternative to a fine.

“You’ll do 90 hours which I have reduced from 100 because of your guilty plea.

“If you breach this [order] you can be brought back and sentenced all

Drove while banned

A man who drove while disqualified will return to court later this month.

Thomas Bannan, 37, also had no insurance when he got behind the wheel on Ballochney Drive on July 23.

Bannan, of West Kirk Street, has been given the opportunity to undergo a drug assessment with a view to completing a treatment order; he’ll return to court on September 25.

Sheriff Pieri told him: “It’s possible you qualify for a treatment order so I’ll bail you for an assessment.

“You must comply with that.”

Denies breaching community order

A man who was given a community payback order for acting aggressively and brandishing a dumbbell in Coatbridge has denied breaching it.

Kieran O’Donnell, 22, from Holytown, struggled with officers on December 2 last year after behaving in a threatening and abusive manner in Mossneuk Crescent.

He was given the community payback order on March 27 this year, and appeared back at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week accused of breaching it.

However, O’Donnell is adamant he hasn’t committed the alleged breach and will return to court on September 26 for a proof diet.
