Hutton happy to face his ex-club

-

FRASER CLARKE Former Airdrie loanee Kyle Hutton admits he is looking forward to welcoming the Diamonds to The Rock – as he“loved”his time at the club.

The 28-year-old midfielder was brought in under gaffer Mark Wilson on loan from St Mirren and he played a key role as the club reached third spot in League One.

Despite missing out on promotion against Alloa, the current Sons star is looking forward to facing his former side this weekend.

“I loved my time at Airdrie. They were a right good group of boys and we had a right good team that season,”said the ex-Rangers kid.

“We were actually unlucky not to have a chance of going up through the play-offs when we lost to Alloa on penalties, but I met a lot of good people through Airdrie and really enjoyed my time there as well.

“They’ll be a tough team. We had a few tough games against them last year and I think they’ve strengthened their squad this summer.

“But confidence is high with us and we’re just looking to get all three points again.”

Having been tipped by many to struggle at the foot of the division, Jim Duffy’s side have got off to a blistering start to their league campaign, sitting joint top.

Hutton states that“confidence is really, really high“right now at the club, adding:“We played a 3-5-2 against Motherwell and it worked well for us. We kept it tight, so we went with that against Falkirk and that day it just didn’t work out for us.

“We lost a sloppy goal to start with and losing that so early on confidence went down a wee bit and we just started conceding one goal after another.

“As a group of boys we can’t let that happen again.

“After the game we said‘look that’s two full-time teams we’ve played, we play Peterhead next they’re part-time as well, our league properly starts then, we can’t let results and performances like that happen again’. It’s turned out well.”
