Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser
Dear Editor,
Sharon Craig’s letter [Advertiser View, September 11] raises questions that require answers before she’s taken seriously.
1. She states she is chair of North Calder community council – can she produce minutes from when this last convened and that the members support her use of their name in her campaign of support for Europark?
2. She states she is “one of many local voices supportive of Europark” – can she supply any documentary proof of this or link to a Facebook page supporting this view in opposition to the Woodhall and Faskine conservation group?
3. She states the development will create “1000 social houses” as well as leisure facilities – can she produce or provide a link to a legal undertaking this will happen?
4. As any new social housing stock would be managed and allocated by North Lanarkshire Council, have they been approached to confirm they’ve been given this undertaking?
5. One of the benefits of the development she quotes is “new shops” – as North Calder covers the Petersburn area, can she explain how any shop three miles from Petersburn will benefit that community and give any examples of Petersburn residents stating this will benefit them?
6. Woodhall and Faskine conservation group can provide numerous written testimonies from individuals who utilise and enjoy the area; can she supply similar testimonies from the people she claims “avoid it due to its reputation for antisocial behaviour”?
I await Ms Craig’s reply.
