Rovers boss takes positives from draw

QUEEN’S PARK..........................................1 ALBION ROVERS.......................................1 Gaffer Kevin Harper reckons Albion Rovers have a lot to be happy about despite a late draw with Queen’s Park.

The Coatbridge outfit had to settle for a point on the road after Salim KouiderAissa’s late equaliser cancelled out Euan East’s first-half goal.

However, Harper was still positive about the display despite the late leveller.

He told the Advertiser:“The boys were absolutely fantastic, they put so much into the game and didn’t deserve to lose that goal late on.

“It’s a disappointing way to lose a goal, but if we aren’t going to take the chances we create we need to make sure we are keeping them out at the other end.

“It did feel like a defeat but we played the game to a good standard and really should have scored more than one.

“At this stage I look at the positives, but we need to make sure we are defending crosses better.

“We don’t want to be a team that lets in a few and scores a few, we won’t compete at the top of the division that way.”

With title challengers Edinburgh City on the horizon, Harper goes into the tie confident of a win at Cliftonhill.

He added:“Edinburgh have got off to a good start and challenging, but we are fifth.

“We believe that in this division we can beat anyone.

“It’s not so long ago that we got a result against them in the League Cup so we know that we can beat them.

“It’s not all doom and gloom for us. We’ve improved on where we were last year we just need to be more consistent.”
