Housing services improving
Performance figures have revealed North Lanarkshire Council’s housing services are improving.
The local authority is achieving and exceeding levels in key areas – measured against the Scottish Social Housing Charter.
These are improving tenant satisfaction rates, completing more repairs right first time and keeping rents below the Scottish average.
The local authority’s annual performance report to tenants measured key areas including homes and rents; tenant satisfaction; quality and maintenance of homes; neighbourhoods; and value for money.
Tenant satisfaction with the management of the areas where they live rose from 88.3 per cent to 94 per cent, while completion of repairs first time increased to 97.6 per cent.
Convener of communities and housing, Councillor Heather Brannan-McVey, said: “It’s so important we compile accurate and relevant performance information and that these can be measured against other social landlords across Scotland and that this can be reported back to our tenants and residents.
“We recently signed a new Scottish Housing Regulator Assurance Statement – an assurance from us to ensure our tenants and residents are receiving all the services we, as a council, pledge to deliver.
“It’s pleasing to see we’re performing well above the Scottish average in many areas which our tenants have highlighted to us as priorities.
“For example, value for money rent levels, improved housing conditions and more opportunities to shape and prioritise their housing services.
“We’ll continue to strive to deliver first class housing services and achieve our ambition to make North Lanarkshire the place to live, learn, work, invest and visit.
“We’ve worked in conjunction with tenant representatives and the North Lanarkshire Federation of Tenants and Residents to develop our latest annual performance report.”
