;Where and when to avoid the dreaded traffic

● DYKEHEAD ROAD, AIRDRIE. Will re-open today following emergency works by Scottish Water between A73 Stirling Road and Ballochney Road.

● GLENBOIG NEW ROAD, GLENBOIG. Is shut until 6pm tomorrow for carriageway patching works, between Coatbridge Road and Mollinsburn Road. Until then, drivers can use Gartliston Road, Muirdyke Road and Yetts Hole Road as alternative routes.

● GLENWELL STREET, GLENMAVIS. Will be closed on Thursday and Friday for carriageway and drainage repairs. The cul-de-sac will be closed for its whole length, from its junction with Glenmavis Road. No alternative routes are available, but vehicle and pedestrian access will be granted where practical during the closure.

● MAIN STREET, SALSBURGH. Carriageway patching works from its east junction with B7066 Hirst Road to 250m west of the road will result in a closure until late on Friday. A diversion is on offer to drivers via Springfield Road.

● LISMORE DRIVE, OLD MONKLAND, COATBRIDGE. Medium-impact works by SP Energy Networks are due to be completed within the next week. These are outside property three on Iona Walk; call 0330 1010 444 for more details.

● TOWNHEAD ROAD, COATBRIDGE. Scottish Gas’ high-impact works outside properties 90 to 166 are due to run for the rest of the month.

● VARNSDORF WAY, PETERSBURN. At its junction with Petersburn Road will see mediumimpact works by Scottish Gas running for most of the rest of the year; email customer@sgn.co.uk to find out more information. ● GRAHAMSHILL AVENUE, CLARKSTON. Mediumimpact works by Scottish Gas from the road’s junction with Drumgelloch Street and its junction with McGregor Avenue are due for completion early in the new year.

● MCGREGOR AVENUE, CLARKSTON. Scottish Gas is carrying out mediumimpact work outside property 17 to the junction with Forrest Street; this is expected to last until early in the new year.

● SHARP AVENUE, COATBRIDGE. Will shut for five days of carriageway resurfacing on January 6. This will be between Mitchell Street and St Monica’s Way, and the former road plus Renfrew Street will be diversion routes for motorists.

● RYDENMAINS ROAD, GLENMAVIS. From B802 Condorrat Road to Waddell Avenue is closing between 9.30am and 3.30pm on January 9 for manhole works by Scottish Water; a diversion will be on B803 Coatbridge Road.

● GARTFIELD STREET, EASTLEA AND WESTLEA PLACES, AIRDRIE. Will be closed from January 13-17 for resurfacing. The alternative routes are Hillhead Drive and Hillfoot Road, and vehicle and pedestrian access will be permitted where possible. ● LOCHARANZA CRESCENT, CAIRNHILL. Will be closed from 9.30am to 5.30pm on January 24 to allow for manhole works by Scottish Water. The closure is between Knock Drive and Dundas Drive; the diversion is via Inverlochy Road.

● FORRESTFIELD ROAD, CALDERCRUIX. Work by BT will result in a closure between Woodside Road and B825 Caldercruix Road from 9.30am to 3.30pm on February 25. Motorists are advised that A89 Airdrie Road, Eastfield Road and Caldercruix Road will be available as alternative routes.
