A Chapelhall schoolboy was stars truck after landing a part in a prime time television docudrama focusing on novels which have shaped the world.

Budding actor Tony Lambie secured his role in the BBC2 series “Novels that Shaped our World – the Glass Ceiling”, which aired for the first time last month.

It is the latest in a number of starring roles for Tony, a pupil at St Andrew’s Primary in Airdrie, who featured in last year’s £ 75 million John Lewis Christmas advertising campaign which told the story of global megastar, Elton John.

In the original advert, only Tony’s hands playing the piano as a young Elton were visible to viewers.

But this time round, the talented youngster shines in his role as the son of BAFTAaward winning actor, Darren Boyd, in the new BBC show.

The eight-year-old attends weekend classes at the

Glasgow- based UK Theatre School, which has its own in-house casting agency and works with international production companies to secure parts for its students in television shows, films and advertising campaigns.

Tony, who lives with parents, Tony and Colette, and 10-yearold sister Gracie, has studied performing arts for the last three years.

He told the Advertiser: “We spent a full day on set at Inverkip and it was great fun being involved.

“It’s great to see how all the cameramen, lighting and sound people and the production crew work together to make the scenes happen. I really enjoyed the experience.”

Dad Tony added: “Tony loves being involved in these projects. Aside from making great memories for him and the family, the experience is helping him develop as a young actor.

“Seeing how things come together behind the scenes is fascinating and it really expands his skills set. He loved being in the John Lewis ad – even if it was just his hands people saw – and he was particularly pleased this time around to be visible on screen.”

Young Tony is following in the footsteps of big sister Gracie, who featured in a recent Royal Bank of Scotland advert.

School principal Lizanne Thomson said: “We’ re absolutely delighted about Tony’s latest success in landing his part in the BBC production.

“As well as coaching students in the performing arts, we work with them and our castings agency to give them opportunities in getting involved in exciting projects in the movie, TV and advertising worlds.”
