Owner charged with pub assault
A publican has appeared in court following an alleged New Year’s Day incident involving a Coatbridge councillor and his wife.
Greg Lennon, who represents Gartcosh, Glenboig & Moodiesburn, and his wife Tracy were treated for head and facial injuries following an alleged d attack at the Big Shop pub in n Glenboig.
Peter Hilley, owner of the pub, has been charged d with assault to severe injury, y, assault to injury and theft ft in relation to the alleged d encounter.
A Coatbridge publican has been charged with assault following an alleged New Year’s Day incident involving Councillor Greg Lennon and his wife.
Peter Hilley, owner of the Big Shop pub in Glenboig, appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Friday in relation to the alleged encounter.
Gartcosh, Glenboig &Moo dies burn representative Mr Lennon and his wife Tracy were treated for head and facial injuries at University Hospital Monklands, following an alleged attack at the Big Shop during the early hours of New Year’s Day.
The Advertiser reported last week that police were called out to the village pub at around 2.30am on January 1.
Mr Hilley, 54, was charged with assault to severe injury, assault to injury and theft.
He made no plea and was committed for further examination. He was granted bail, with his next appearance in court yet to be confirmed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Advertiser: “A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault that took place on Main Street, Glenboig, which was reported at approximately 2.30am on Wednesday, January 1.”
The Big Shop pub had been hosting a ticketed Hogmanay party from 9pm and laid on fireworks, food and a DJ, when the alleged incident occurred.
