Brothers admit dealing drugs

-

A pair of brothers who peddled drugs worth more than £7000 will return to court next month to face the music.

Jamie Mangan, 37, and his younger sibling Sean, 26, both admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine to others at Jamie’s house in October 2018.

Prosecutor Liz Ross told Airdrie Sheriff Court last week:“The locus was a one-bedroom flat in Stepps. Jamie and Sean are brothers.

“Police received information about Jamie’s sale of drugs.

“A search warrant was obtained on October 25 and officers attended at his house, forced entry and a search was conducted.

“A large number of packets were found in a jacket in a wardrobe.

“The five bags of cocaine weighed 26.4 grammes with a value of £750.

“In another bag there were 39 packages weighing 16.19 grammes with a value of £780.”

The court then heard another 37 bags valued at £740 were found and as the search continued detectives discovered more bags in a different wardrobe with drugs valued at £500.

Another jacket was then found containing drugs valued at £420 and in the same jacket there was 110 packages of cocaine weighing 44.44 grammes with a street value of £2200.

Ms Ross went on:“The search continued and police found five bags of brown rock, analysed as heroin, weighing 147.92 grammes valued at £1400 and cocaine valued at £250.

Drugs squad detectives recovered £5740 of cocaine and £1400 worth of heroin.

Ms Ross added:“Sean’s DNA was found on the bags.

“Jamie, when interviewed, gave a no comment interview.”

During the brothers’date in the dock, lawyer Simon Gilmour intimated guilty pleas on behalf of Jamie Mangan, from Mount Ellen, while defence solicitor Fiona Findlay pled guilty on Sean Mangan’s behalf.

Both dealers confirmed their pleas to Sheriff Morag Shankland.

The sheriff deferred sentence until March 4, calling for a full background report and restriction of liberty order assessments on both men; bail was continued.
