SSPCA looking for volunteers to collect cash
Volunteers are wanted to help raise funds for the Scottish SPCA by taking part in collections this weekend at the Coatbridge branch of Pets at Home.
The organisation is looking for 10 people to help with their fundraiser at the Faraday retail park store from Friday to Sunday.
Gillian Boyle, the manager of the charity’s Lanarkshire animal rescue and rehoming centre, said:“We’ll provide all volunteers with their very own fundraising pack with everything they need to take part.
“Last year, 1755 animals arrived into our care, and this is an invaluable opportunity to help these vulnerable animals; caring for a dog costs £15 per day, which doesn’t include veterinary treatment or overheads.
“With support from generous members of the public, we’ll be able to continue our work rescuing, rehabilitating, rehoming and releasing the animals of Scotland.”
The Coatbridge store is one of 29 Pets at Home branches across Scotland to be taking part in this weekend’s fundraisers for the charity; to volunteer, email fundraising@scottishspca.org, visit www. scottishspca.org/petsathome or call 03000 999 999 (option four).
Meanwhile, staff at the Scottish SPCA’s
Lanarkshire rehoming centre are also looking for donations of Easter eggs for a planned community fun day.
The Hamilton centre will be hosting events including an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 5, and are seeking chocolate eggs of all sizes, including“free from”confections.
Donations can be handed into the Bothwell Road centre daily between 10am and 4pm.
