A Coatbridge mum has a “spring in her step” after shedding more than 9st in just 12 months.

Marieclair McGivern, 31, has transformed her life by following the Juice Plus meal replacement plan and gone on to become a slimming consultant to inspire others.

Marieclair, a carer at Lakeside Manor care home in Coatbridge, decided to begin her weight loss journey after she became tired of being unable to keep up with her active six-year-old daughter Leah.

Marieclair told the Advertiser: “I’ve been on the plan for just over a year now. I was fed up with my life so I decided to do something about it.

“I was tired of not being able to do things with my daughter, who is quite active.

“Because of how bad my eating habits were, I found it quite tough.

“It’s a healthy eating plan and it provides nutritional meal replacements for breakfast and lunch, with two healthy snacks throughout the day and a healthy option dinner.

“I have homemade meals, made from scratch, so that I know what’s going into them.

“Now it’s my day to day life and that’s why they call it a healthy lifestyle.

“I’ve had a really good representative, Claire Campbell, who gave me the support I needed.”

At the beginning of her journey, Marieclair confessed she struggled to take part in any form of exercise due to her hefty frame.

She explained: “At the start I couldn’t do very much and I really struggled.

“The first four months I went for extra walks. I then hit the gym from February into the summer because I wanted to get into better shape for my holidays.

“I actually miss the gym but I recently changed my job and that took up my free time.

“I became a rep myself in May last year because I want to inspire other people.”

And as well as helping others, Marieclair is determined to achieve her goal weight before she ties the knot with her fiancé, James McAuley.

She went on to say: “My goal weight is 13st and 13 lbs; I’ve not got there yet but I’m hoping with the hard work I’m doing this month I will get there.

“When we got engaged, James said he loved me as I was from the start.

“But now I have a spring in my step and I no longer cry before going out. It has totally changed my life.

“James is really proud of me. I haven’t set a date for my wedding, but hopefully now that I’m starting to feel better about myself it will be within the next two years or so.”

Slimming consultant Claire Campbell added: “Marieclair is such a lovely down to earth person and she needed a friend, rather than a rep.

“We struck up a nice friendship over social media and she now works with me from home.”
