Scott hopes exhibition will be picture perfect
IAN BUNTING
A Glenboig snapper who turned his hand to photography after he was diagnosed with dyslexia is preparing to unveil an exhibition of his work.
Scott Broadley and his friend Julie Harrigan, who co- run photography company Capture Scotland Ltd, are “thrilled” to be showcasing Scott’s work at the Glasgow University Union Building later this month.
Explaining what encouraged him to live life through a lens, Scott revealed: “I started taking photos almost 20 years ago after being advised by an educational psychologist following my dyslexia diagnosis.
“I was encouraged to take up an art form to enhance concentration, release frustration and provide a focus. I chose photography and it was a skill I developed quickly.
“It became a passion and I absolutely love taking pictures.”
Julie, administrator of Capture Scotland Ltd, added: “Scott has excelled with his photography and gone from strength to strength in creating some of the most amazing art work.
“He has always been of the mind set that he wanted to give something back after finding photography.
“This can be seen from the various camera clubs, youth work and one-on-one tuition he has in his portfolio.
“Scott’s thinking is that if he can teach three people to be good photographers, then those three will go on and teach others and the cycle will not end – and that this may help others deal with the issues which he faced.”
Scott can’t wait to see his work featured in the exhibition and added: “There will be a thorough selection of pictures from my portfolio, featuring a number of locations and objects.
“I’m hoping we can get people from Airdrie and Coatbridge along and they would be very welcome.
“This exhibition will be one of the highlights of my time as a photographer thus far and gives us a chance to bring Capture Scotland Ltd to fresh eyes.”
Scott and Julie started up Capture Scotland Ltd, which is based in Comrie, Perthshire, in May last year and it was born from Scott’s “dreams, hopes and ambitions”.
Julie said: “We specialise in commercial and landscape photography and sell these pictures. We also offer tours of the places in Scotland where Scott has taken his photographs and tuition, which can be for groups or on a one-on-one basis.”
Capture Scotland Ltd’s exhibition in Glasgow takes place on the weekend of March 27-28, from 7pm to 9pm on the Saturday and between 12pm and 4pm on the Sunday.
