Firm shows caring side as it creates new jobs
A care provider has created 25 new jobs in North Lanarkshire, including posts in Coatbridge.
Mears has implemented the care worker jobs due to “an increase in demand for care at home”.
Nyree Doyle, manager of the firm’s branch office in Coatbridge, said: “Care at home is a specialised service which enables older people and those less able, and sometimes those living alone, to have the services they require for an independent life in their own homes.
“Many people require additional support when they return home from a stay in hospital.
“Regular visits provide personal care, shopping, medication and companionship.”
As one of the biggest providers of care at home, with 20 local branches across Scotland, Mears offers full training to new recruits with a dedicated training suite in the Coatbridge office which is decked out as a small apartment.
Specialist equipment training is given, including learning to use a hoist and a stair lift, and Mears supports the costs of all staff studying for their SVQ qualifications, which will soon be a legal requirement for all working in the care at home sector.

“These new jobs offer flexible working and part-time and fulltime positions.
“Some of our new recruits come into a job in care, having experienced caring for a family member or friends or neighbours and have learned how much they enjoy providing additional care.”
One care worker added: “It’s a great job where no two days are ever the same.
“I love working with people and know that my input makes a big difference to those I visit on a daily basis.”
