Saint Phnx all set to rise again with SWG3 show

-

Wishaw band Saint Phnx’s great year is set to continue after they announced a massive Scottish headline gig for the autumn.

The Lanarkshire lads will play SWG3 on October 2 as part of a run of dates that will take them across Europe.

The past several months have brought the band a stint supporting music’s man of the moment Lewis Capaldi in America, as well as the release of their debut album DDMN.

Now the boys, brothers Stevie and Al Jukes, are getting ready to hit the road again.

And the group’s family affair continued on their most recent run of gigs after dad Bertie, who is their manger, stole the show.

Stevie revealed in a recent interview: “Being brothers is what makes the band; it’s the foundation of the whole thing.

“The fact that your brother is a complete a***hole but you love him at the same time is a truly special thing.

“Our dad is the main man behind everything; a true inspiration to who we are and what we want to achieve.

“The only downfall is he takes the spotlight off us. We took him on tour with us on the Yungblud tour to sell merchandise.

“By two gigs in, he got invited on stage to sing by Yungblud in Warsaw and everyone loved him.

“We went to our merch stall after the show and everyone queued for a selfie with him but no-one bothered about us.”

Formerly with rockers Vigo Thieves, Saint Phnx saw the Jukes brothers switch to an alternative pop sound.

And Stevie admitted he’s been surprised by just how well things have been going for the pair.

He said: “Being in a band before, we knew that it takes a lot of hard work to get anywhere but we couldn’t believe how fast things have gone.

“We went from playing empty places in Aberdeen and Dundee to supporting Imagine Dragons and playing Reading and Leeds in the space of nine months.

“The goal is to get as big as we can be. It was the goal at the start and it still remains our goal. We’ve just kept progressing and everything is growing.

“It’s amazing to see and it gives us the motivation to keep going and to see how big we can get.

“I think the songs we make are the key factor. We changed up from writing indie songs to writing alternative pop songs also mixed with a bigger sound.

“The fact that we are two brothers is a big part of what we do as well. I think our fans like the camaraderie and family side of the band.”

The brothers have no intention of slowing down anytime soon, and are pleased with the release of DDMN.

Stevie said: “We wanted to take time and have a concept with the album, not just a random release of big tracks with no linear thread. DDMN is about a journey to find your true self; DDMN is the map of our journey.”
