Caused broken wrist

-

An Airdrie man who pushed his partner to the ground after a night out, causing her to break her wrist, has been admonished by a sheriff.

Steven Bamrick, 34, of Aitchison Street, assaulted the woman on August 25 last year.

Bamrick admitted pushing her on the body and causing her to fall to the ground to her severe injury.

Prosecutor Roslyn O’Hara told Airdrie Sheriff Court:“At 2.45am, Bamrick and the woman were in Graham Street, Airdrie, after having been out drinking.

“The incident was seen on CCTV and it was clear she was visibly upset.

“An argument took place and the incident was also caught on camera. Police traced Bamrick and arrested him.

“She was taken to Monklands Hospital, where it was confirmed her wrist was broken.”

Defence lawyer Eddie Kelly said that Bamrick pleaded guilty to the offence at the intermediate calling of the case, before trial, on November 21 last year.

Mr Kelly added:“They had been in a relationship for 15 years. This was a very unusual incident in the context.

“There had been no previous incidents; this was a one-off.

“She sustained a significant injury. Both concede they had consumed too much alcohol.

“He was telling her to go away and she stepped forward in an aggressive manner.

“He pushed her on the chest once. She stumbled back and landed on her hand and fractured her wrist.

“They continue to be in a relationship. Both wish to put this matter behind them.

“He very much regrets it and wishes to move on.

“He has stayed out of trouble since sentence was deferred on him in December.”

Bamrick was then admonished and dismissed by presiding sheriff Fergus Thomson.
