Helping hand for NHS workers in housing market
A housebuilder constructing new developments in Carnbroe and Coatbridge is offering deposits of up to five per cent on its properties for NHS employees as a thank-you for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
Barratt Homes has launched a new “NHS deposit contribution scheme”, which runs until the end of the year, at all its sites including Calder Gardens in Carnbroe and The Fairways, near Drumpellier golf course.
It means health service workers can receive up to £15,000 towards buying houses at the Monklands developments, and is also available to those who have recently reserved a home but not yet completed.
The firm describes the move as“a way of offering a heartfelt thank you to the UK’s 1.5m NHS workers”, praising them for “working hard to look after people during the Covid-19 crisis”.
Barratt Developments chief executive David Thomas said: “We want to say a big thank you to our brilliant NHS workers who have shown such courage in the face of the Covid-19 crisis, which is why we are announcing this new NHS deposit contribution scheme to thank them for all they have done.”
The housebuilder previously donated hundreds of items of personal protective equipment from its closed construction sites to Monklands Hospital earlier in the pandemic.
A total of 1700 items from its West Scotland division – including face masks, gloves, overshoes, safety goggles, antibacterial wipes and hand gel – were shared between the Airdrie hospital and the Queen Elizabeth maternity hospital in Glasgow.
It also donated its site stock of 400 defibrillators to St Andrew’s First Aid and St John Ambulance.
