A ki n d - h e a r t e d organisation supplying families with pre-owned school clothing is up and running again.

For the first time since lockdown began, the Airdrie Community School Uniform

Bank is ready to serve the community – and is asking for the public to help with donated items.

A representative from the voluntary organisation said: “We would like to express our gratitude to Tesco at Airdrie retail park who are collecting uniforms for us at their service desk.

“We know that this is a big ask at this time and really appreciate all the help Tesco give us.

“We would also like to thank the North Lanarkshire restorative justice team, who launder all of the donated uniform items for us, and Diamonds in the Community for organising a collection for us at the West End Bar.”

The spokesperson added: “If members of the public have school uniforms for any Airdrie school – primary or secondary – that they no longer need, they can take them along to Tesco at Airdrie retail park or Scotcrest in Airdrie.

“We accept all school clothing, including additional items like outside jackets, PE kits, new shoes, hats and scarves and new underwear.

“We would really like to offer outer-winter clothing, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and the benefit of children keeping warm on the way to and from school.

“If you think you would benefit from our service, then we invite you to get in touch via Facebook, email airdriecub@gmail.com or call 07895 519677.

“We understand that these are tough times for many families and money is not always available for school uniforms, but we don’t have any criteria that needs to be met.

“If you could benefit from us then we will do our best to supply you with what you need.

“Our service is free, discreet and confidential; we will call you to discuss your needs and then arrange a delivery or meeting point to hand over your uniform package.”
