WHAT YOU CAN AND YOU CAN'T DO...

-

Following an increase in coronavirus cases in the West of Scotland, additional restrictions have been introduced for people in Lanarkshire.

The Scottish Government says these are rules are aimed at limiting the chances for the virus to spread between households.

The below restrictions apply to both the North and South Lanarkshire council areas.

They were introduced for an initial two-week period from midnight on September 11, but will be reviewed on Friday, September 18.

WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT DO

If you live in one of the affected areas YOU SHOULD NOT:

Host people from any other households in your home socially, unless they are in your extended household.

Make a social visit to people you do not live with in their home, no matter where that is, unless they are in your extended household.

An extended household is where two households have joined together to form a single household.

To be eligible to form an extended household, at least one of the two households must be a person living on their own or only with children under the age of 18.

These rules also apply to children. However, children whose parents do not live in the same household can move between homes.

These restrictions apply to social visits inside houses only.

If you are contacted by Test and Protect and identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, you and everyone in your (extended) household should self-isolate for 14 days.

Under the new rules, YOU CAN:

Meet people outside, for example in your garden or in public spaces; follow existing guidance on meeting people outdoors.

– Provide childcare in your home, for example to look after a grandchild; but you should take extra care with hygiene.

– Travel in and out of the affected area, for example to go to work.

Go into someone’s house to provide essential care or support such as delivering shopping, but you should be careful to follow good hygiene measures.

Attend a hospital appointment.

Meet people in cafes, pubs and restaurants, but try to ensure you stay in one place; follow the existing rules on eating and drinking out on maximum numbers and physical distancing.

– Use self-catering accommodation in unaffected areas with your household group, but not with different household groups.

EXTENDED HOUSEHOLDS

People who are part of an extended household can visit each other in their homes, regardless of where they live.

If you do not live in an affected area but are part of an extended household with people who do live in the affected area, you can continue to meet people from other households indoors as long as they do not live in the restricted area.

CARE HOMES VISITS

Care home visits are restricted to outdoors only, with a maximum of three people from no more than two households, and essential indoor visits.

Essential indoors visits in care homes can continue for end of life situations or exceptional circumstances including those who are experiencing stress and distress.

HOSPITAL VISITS

Hospital visits are restricted to essential only. This includes:

A birth partner supporting a woman during hospital visits.

For a person receiving end-of-life care.

To support someone with a mental health issues such as dementia.

To accompany a child in hospital.

PEOPLE PREVIOUSLY ADVISED TO SHIELD

People who were previously shielding should be extra careful to keep themselves safe.

The government are not asking people to start shielding again, but will keep this under review.

Children who were shielding can still attend school.

SCHOOLS AND EDUCATION

Schools and early learning/childcare settings are not affected by these measures

If you are a student, and due to move into halls of residence or other shared accommodation, you should still do this.

PLACES OF WORSHIP, MARRIAGES, CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS

AND FUNERALS

At this stage no changes have been made to the operation of places of worship, however this will remain under review.

Marriages and civil partnerships held indoors in private dwellings should not take place.

Marriages and civil partnerships outdoors or in indoor public spaces can continue to take place, in line with the general restriction that no more than 20 should attend.

You can attend a funeral within the affected areas. Funeral service providers should continue to follow funeral services guidance.

WORK AND SERVICES CARRIED OUT IN PRIVATE HOMES

Workers and builders can continue to go into other people’s houses to carry out work such as repairs, installations and deliveries.

This also includes services such as mobile hairdressers.

Professionals who offer services from their own home can continue to carry out their work with appropriate safety measures in place.

Any visits should be risk-assessed and in line with the relevant guidance.

CAR SHARING

In line with general guidance, you should only travel with members of your own, or extended household.
