MAN CHARGED IN DANIEL DEATH
Accused makes no plea and is remanded in custody
The devastated family of a man found dead in his Greengairs home have paid tribute to their “darling boy”, as a 43- year- old man was charged with his murder.
Daniel Greer, 33, was discovered in his Rankin Crescent home around 12.55pm last Monday, October 19 – three days after he had last been seen.
A murder probe was launched after police found that Daniel, who was also known as Shed, had suffered a “violent assault” in the lead up to his death.
Investigators have been trying to establish Mr Greer’s movements after he was last seen on Friday, October 16.
Officers arrested Airdrie man Nicholas Alexander Henry, 43, in connection with Mr Greer’s death and he appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday.
He was charged with murder and made no plea; he was committed for further examination and remanded in custody ahead of his return to court at a later date.
Mr Greer’s loved ones hailed the positive impact he had on their lives, saying: “He was a much-loved member of our family and he will be sadly missed.
“My darling boy Daniel, life will never be the same without you. We will always love you.”
Detective Superintendent Kevin Jamie son of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team ( East) said: “I’d like to thank the local people in the Greengairs and Airdrie communities for their assistance during this inquiry and to assure them that a significant police presence will remain in the area at this time.”
