- JEAN WARD

An Ai rdr i e f u n e ra l directors have shown their appreciation for Monklands local heroes as part of a community campaign.

Staff at Co- op Funeralcare decided to thank key workers at St Andrew’s Hospice for their tireless work during the Covid-19 pandemic by donating a hamper full of goodies, as part of the organisation’s Hampers 4 Heroes initiative.

Fraser Graham, a funeral director at the company’s Graham Street branch, handed over the hamper to a delighted Claire Dalgleish, a member of the fundraising team at the hospice.

And Claire happily accepted it on behalf of the palliative care team and staff.

The national campaign, which is being run in partnership with mental health charities Mind and SAMH (Scottish Society for Mental Health), has been celebrating the efforts of the nation’s local healthcare heroes and key workers during the pandemic.

Commenting on the campaign, Co- op Funeralcare said: “We cannot put into words how thankful we are to the key workers across the UK.

“So, here’s a little hamper, from us to you; though our gratitiude is far more than what we can fit in here.

“Still, you deserve this treat, and to know that we’re here for you too.”

Allan Topen, a representative for the Airdrie branch of Co- op Funeralcare, told the Advertiser: “We are working in partnership with the charities Mind and SAMH, and we wanted to say thank you to staff at the local hospice in Airdrie who have been working flat out for the past seven months.”
