Sparkling chance to donate

-

Coatbridge community foodbank is to receive a Christmas boost thanks to a big-hearted Bargeddie couple and their generous customers.

Ross and Fiona Campbell provide luxury vehicle washes at their Blackbeard’s Detailing car studio – and are offering motorists the chance to use the service in exchange for contributing to their second annual toy drive, during a day-long special event.

Drivers are asked to bring along an unwrapped toy instead of payment for the service, worth up to £30, with all items then being donated to the Coatbridge charity.

The couple ran a similar festive donation event last year and collected more than £1200 of toys. They are hoping that their 2020 event will be even more successful.

Ross and Fiona, who are parents to three-year-old Maxwell, said:“we hope these toys can help give some children a special Christmas. We carried out our first charity toy drive last December and we’re delighted to be hosting it again to give something back to the community.

“Our friends from Fulcrum Training are helping to wash the cars, we’ve already had a pledge of £100 of toys from Smyths toy store at Glasgow

Fort, and we’re awaiting confirmation from more shops so we hope to have plenty more along with the donations made during the toy drive.

“We’d kindly ask customers to donate a toy in lieu of payment, which should be left unwrapped so he charity can see which age group they would suit best.”

The toy drive takes place from 10am to 4pm this Saturday, December 12, at the Blackbeard’s Detailing premises at Westfield industrial estate in Cumbernauld.

Mince pies, coffee and festive music will be provided subject to local Covid restrictions.”
