Rovers upgrade during shutdown
Albion Rovers havethankedfansand celebrity supporter Mark Millar for helping fund improvements at Cliftonhill Stadium during thelower league football suspension.
With all football off inscotland’slower leagues until at least February15 to combat thespread of Covid-19, Rovers have made surethey puttheir timeto gooduse by sprucing up their home ground insideand out.
A crowdfunding page helped raise £20,000 forimprovements, while funding also cameinfrom a variety of sources, including comic bookwriter Millar who helped fund their live streaming service.
Among the works carried out were floodlight upgrades, arefurbishmentof the club shop and Dishingtonlounge,new flooring indressing rooms, enhancements tothe disabled shelter at the main stand, pigeonnetting in the standsand the installation of Pixellot cameras for live streaming, while the Coatbridge gableend has been reinforced.
Aclub statement read: “Whilst there’s been a restriction onfootball operations, volunteers and directors havetaken the opportunity to doa numberof things around the ground.
“Whilst necessary, the works wouldn’t have beenpossible withoutthe assistance fromjordan[campbell’s] Just Giving page, the verygenerous donationfromjames Anderson and the50/50 fundraising by Ben [Kearney].
“We’d like to extend ourthanks to our fans,volunteers, sponsors, Mark Millar, Albion Rovers supporters’trustand the Albion Rovers community trust, as without yourongoing support the upkeep of our club wouldbe muchmore difficult.”
