Old Firm legends unite for Q&A

-

Old Firm legends John Hartson and Mark Hateley will be appearing as teammates for the first time when they come together to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity.

Beatson Banter, the organisation’s series of conversations with sports stars past and present to collect funds for its crucial work, continues with John and Mark sharing their stories of life at the top of Scottish football during one of the sport’s most engaging golden ages with the people of Monklands who get involved.

The online event takes place tomorrow at 8pm, and entry costs £10.

Ex-celtic striker John said: “Having my own experiences with cancer and understanding the services and support the Beatson Cancer Charity provides every day, I am really delighted to get the chance to help raise money for such a great cause.

“Mark and I have plenty to say about our time at Celtic and Rangers; we both had a fantastic time and really love the fact that we can reconnect with fans while raising money for the Beatson.”

Mark, who used to play up front for Rangers, added: “Beatson Cancer Charity has a great reputation and I’m sure many Old Firm fans in Monklands will want to support them. John and I can’t wait to come together and have a good laugh, but we will always keep in mind just what we’re working towards; raising awareness and funds for a truly indispensable charity.”

Martin Cawley, CEO of the charity, will host and introduce the guest speakers for the evening and provide the chance for people to ask any questions they have via the messaging platform. As well as the Q&A session, there will be a chance to enter a raffle and bid on a fantastic auction item.
