Club on hunt for new members

-

Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands Rotary Club is appealing for more members to join its team.

The organisation is “getting back into high gear” following the impact of the pandemic and hopes as many people as possible can join its outstanding work.

A spokesman for the club told the Advertiser: “At present there are five honorary members and we have 18 active members – men and women – who wish to help others, but we need more people to support us.

“The club meets every Monday evening at the Tudor Hotel in Airdrie, at 6.15pm for 6.30pm.

“It isn’t necessary to have a meal, although many of us do, and attendance every Monday is not a requirement.

“Anyone interested in joining the club can visit www.jjmcgill.org.uk/ca-m-rotary/ or https://www.facebook. com/rotarycam to find out more information.”

As part of the Monklands club’s efforts to get back to normal following Covid restrictions, it is planning several future fundraisers.

The spokesman added: “Our AM/AM golf event is in the pipeline for May 12. If this is as successful as the last one in September, it should hopefully raise in excess of £3000.

“And our annual fundraising Burns supper, which was held back to allow people to become more comfortable gathering with others, will hopefully take place within the next two or three months.”

The club is also continuing with its Lendwithcare project, which has been running since 2014, and members have collected another £300 to put into their account, taking their total investment to £4300.

The spokesman said: “We have £1000 ready to invest into the Rotary Ukraine appeal with, no doubt, much more to come.”
