A YOUNG artist is celebrating after winning a painting competition organised by a popular BBC television show.

Charlotte Bradley has been crowned the adult winner of The One Showw Art Show competition after impressing presenters with her portrait drawings.

The 21-year-old first caught the judges eye when she was shortlisted into the final 24 with her portrait entitled Fred’s Wife.

Charlotte’s painting was inspired by a charismatic elderly couple she saw while out in Fleet.

She took her photo but only caught the husband’s name, Fred.

Charlotte painted both individual portraits and submitted Fred’s wife to The One Show competition.

She said: “The couple were so sweet and accommodating so it’s nice to have this recognition for them too."

Charlotte, who lives in Ewshot and attended Lord Wandsworth College, then got a call from presenter Phil Tuffnell at the beginning of June to confirm she was among the final six in the competition.

The finalists all appeared on the show on June 11 and were told they could produce anything they wanted for the next round of the competition, which would be used to establish one overall winner from each age category.

The final was on the show aired on July 16 and Charlotte was declared the adult winner with her portrait entitled ‘Hilda’.

She said: “I’m really pleased to have won the competition, as it was quite a surprise and the standard of work was all so good. It has been so encouraging to have my work recognised. The family of Hilda, the second lady I painted, are delighted with her portrait, and they said it really captured everything about her.”
