Budding authors bag rotary award
PUPILS from St Nicholas’ School in Church Crookham took part in a special assembly this month where they were awarded certificates for their successes in competitions organised by Fleet Rotary Club.
Earlier this month, Rotarians John Burton and Andrew Kirk presented 22 certificates to the children for their entries into the young writer and young photographer competitions, where they went up against pupils from other schools in Fleet and Church Crookham.
The subject of the young writer competition was ‘What a difference that made to my life’, which provoked a variety of both ‘charming and chilling’ entries, according to the panel’s Rotarian judges.
The intermediate prize was won by Year 8 pupil Sasha Venn. In addition, three pupils were highly commended and 13 were commended for their entries.
A spokesman for the school said: “Expect to see St Nicholas’ students winning the Booker Prize in the future.”
