Captain Carroll fantastic

Frimley ..................... 145 Ripley ................... 146-4

-

CAPTAIN David Carroll became Frimley’s highest ever run scorer after a weekend of mixed emotions at Chobham Road.

Carroll surpassed Alan Try’s long-standing record of 20,221 runs with a huge six on his way to an impressive 85 as the Mighty Geese recorded a thrilling two-run victory against Hawkley in a friendly on Sunday.

But how he wished his runs had come 24 hours earlier as his Frimley side crashed to a heavy six-wicket defeat to league leaders Ripley.

Asked to bat first, the Geese struggled to find any kind of rhythm throughout and despite the odd flurry of boundaries were eventually skittled for just 145 in 43.1 overs.

Frimley’s hopes of grinding out victory were boosted by two wickets in the space of three overs as Ripley started their response tentatively.

But the visitors soon got into their stride and soon made light work of the run chase, eventually reaching their target in just 24 overs.
