Danson’s on target
FLEET hockey star Alex Danson has her sights on a medal after Team England booked their place in the semi-final with a 2-1 victory over Scotland yesterday (Wednesday).
Danson handed England the lead with her third goal of the tournament before Susannah Townsend doubled the advantage.
Scotland, though, pulled one back just before halftime through Nikki Kidd but England held on to advance to the last four.
After beating Wales and Malaysia in their opening two games – with Danson finding the net in both matches – England then lost 3-0 to the much-fancied Australians before the Scottish victory secured second place in the pool and a potential semi-final against New Zealand.
