Boro’s games postponed due to coronavirus situation
THREE of Farnborough’s Southern Premier South games were postponed after the league made the decision to postpone all games throughout all four divisions between March 14 and 21 due to the coronavirus situation.
Subsequently, Boro’s home game with Chesham United last Saturday and back-to-back away games at Wimborne Town and Salisbury that were due to take place this week were put on hold.
In a statement released on Friday afternoon, the Southern League said: “A review of the situation will take place on Friday March 20 and everyone will be notified of the decision as soon as possible regarding the continuation or otherwise of the competition from Monday March 23. In respect to the end of season date, that currently remains as Saturday April 25 but there will be updates should there be any changes to that.”
Farnborough chairman Simon Gardener then issued the following message to supporters: “Understandably there is growing concern around coronavirus and what it means for our football community.
“At Farnborough Football Club we are continuing to monitor the coronavirus situation and the impact on our players, staff, supporters, volunteers and the community.
“We are following the government and the Southern League advice and will keep you updated about future match days.
“Please follow the advice on the Public Health England website, look out for each other and those vulnerable in the community.
“Please read the NHS’s health information and advice to help limit the spread of coronavirus.
“The club thank all supporters for their co-operation and will continue to seek advice from the relevant authorities. We will keep supporters updated with the latest developments as and when they become available.”
