The effect of the Order would be:1) to authorise the overnight closure of; a) the road leading from the coast-bound carriagewa­y of the M3 at Junction 4 (Frimley Interchang­e) (A331); and the road leading to the coast-bound carriagewa­y of the M3 at Junction 4A (A327); 2) to authorise the 24-hour closure of the hard shoulder adjacent to the coast-bound carriagewa­y of the M3 between points 220 metres west and 1820 metres west of the centreline of Junction 4a overbridge (A327), and the road leading to the coast-bound carriagewa­y of the M3 at Junction 4A (A327); 3) to suspend, overnight, the ban on Heavy Goods Vehicles using the outside lane of the coast-bound carriagewa­y of the M3 between a point 2360 metres west of the centreline of Ravenswood Roundabout western overbridge (A325) and a point 2240 metres west of the centreline of Junction 4a overbridge (A327). These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractor­s undertake barrier upgrade/ replacemen­t works. It is expected that the work would last for approximat­ely 5 weeks starting on or after Monday 28th September 2020. The overnight closures and suspension would take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order would come into force on 26 September 2020 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the slip closures would be diverted using other junctions on the M3 (Junctions 4A and 4 respective­ly and return). The temporary closures, HGV ban suspension, and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period. This Traffic Order is required to enable BT Openreach to carry out tree-cutting and/or cabling and/or poling works. These works are anticipate­d to be carried out between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm, within 2 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 21 September 2020. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
