25 surreylive.news NEWS & MAIL WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 BEAUTY COUNTER THE MAGNIFICENT TRIED& TESTED EYE CREAMS ESPA TRI-ACTIVE LIFT& FIRM EYE MOISTURISER £45, EspaSkincare.com HHHHH WE haven’t tried an ESPA formula that hasn’t worked on our sensitive, fussy skin – and this is no different. It’s lovely and creamy, and you only need a tiny bit to cover both under-eyes. After two weeks of using this, skin looked smoother and much less dry. Alternatively, the crisp mini-wing at Richard Quinn is a really good starting point for newbies. 4.GOTH VIBES BIOSSANCE SQUALANE + MARINE ALGAE EYE CREAM PALE skin, black cherry lips, kohlrimmed eyes, or all of the above – that was the brief at a whole host of AW20 shows, from Rodarte and Anna Sui in New York, to Gucci and Max Mara in Milan. While going full-on goth with that make-up trio might seem a bit much, a deep berry lip is a softer way to try the trend. £46, CultBeauty.co.uk HHHHH THE light pink colour of this cream did immediately brighten dark circles, and felt very soft and soothing to apply. Concealer sat nicely on top of it, without creasing – and after a few days of using it, we were waking up with less tired-looking skin around our eyes. KATIE 5. POPS OF COLOUR WRIGHT REVEALS THE brightest make-up hues are usually reserved for spring looks, but there were some welcome splashes of colour on the autumn catwalks. Pink was popular, with bubblegum pink eyes at Matty Bovan, fuchsia mascara at Off-White, and Eighties-style eyeshadow at Rixo, see main picture. SKIN PROUD BRIGHT EYE POMEGRANATE EYE CREAM THE SEVEN KEY LOOKS £14.99, Asos.com OF THE SEASON AHEAD HHHHH IT isn’t the lightest cream we’ve used, and has a balm-like texture. It wasn’t the quickest to sink in either, but it’s good for days when we need some serious hydration. We are using it a few times a week but it’s not going to be a daily favourite. A Matty Bovan show at London Fashion Week UTUMN is just around the corner and that means it’s all change in the fashion and beauty departments, as we wave goodbye to summer and say hello to the new-season collections. The AW20 catwalks brought us a bounty of fabulous hair and make-up looks, and there’s something to suit everyone – from sparkle and shimmer to moody hues, and the re-emergence of some classic techniques. Here are the seven most important beauty trends of the season... liner, and Gabriela Hearst, where a warm golden tone was topped with a sprinkle of glitter. 2. METALLIC SHINE ANOTHER look that’s destined to come to the fore, mirror-like flashes were a favourite at London Fashion Week, with models at Preen, Simone Rocha and Erdem all adorned with metallic foils. In shades of silver, gold and red, the chocolate wrapper-like textures were placed in an abstract manner, giving an antique, worn-in vibe. 6. RED LIPS A PERFECTLY painted scarlet lip never goes out of style, of course, but this season, matte red makes way for something with a bit more shine. We’re not going so far as to say gloss is back – aim for a soft satin finish, as seen at Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs and Jil Sander. BOOTS GLOW EYE CREAM £4, Boots.com HHHHH WE thought this range was a little too young and trendy-looking for it to do much, but it did make a noticeable difference to dark circles. The tube ran out quite quickly, but it was really brightening and such an affordable price! Above: Nars Single Eyeshadow Fatale, £17, available from Nars Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick Oh Miley, £27, available from Harvey Nichols Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Train Bleu, £22, Nars Below: 7. STATEMENT HAIR HAIR stylists went all out for AW20, creating some spectacular catwalk looks, from huge, wide wigs at Matty Bovan and sculpted braids at Ashish, to colourful stencilled locks at Emilio Pucci and slicked-back silver tresses at Erdem. Obviously, these aren’t the kind of styles you can easily replicate at home, but the chic twisted knots and braids seen at Fendi and Rixo are a lot more wearable, while still offering plenty of wow-factor. Marc Jacobs AW20 Q+A CAFFEINE EYE SERUM £6.50, FeelUnique.com Erdem AW20 Right: HHHHH WE STARTED using this in the first summer heatwave and it was lovely. We put it in the fridge and found it really reduced morning puffiness when applied after having a shower. We didn’t see much improvement on fine lines, but it felt very nice and the caffeine formula did seem to slightly reduce eye bags. 3. WINGED EYELINER MASTERED the feline flick? Then it’s time to take it up a notch with one of the edgy black winged liner looks seen on the catwalks, from the cut crease flick at Stella McCartney, to the bold double-wing designs at Valentino and Miu Miu. 1. GOLDEN EYES ALREADY looking forward to festive season? We’ve got the perfect party look for you: golden eyes, as seen at Tom Ford, where shimmering shadow was paired with kohl Tom Ford AW20 show PRINTED AND DISTRIBUTED BY PRESSREADER PressReader.com +1 604 278 4604 .
