Local lottery winner just happy to help out causes
A LUCKY Fleet resident has been celebrating after winning £2,000 on the Hart Lottery.
The fortunate player, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the money is a real boon for his family and they have encouraged more people to get involved.
The Hart Lottery was launched in 2017 and supports local good causes. Tickets cost £1, of which 60p goes to charities selected by players. To date, more than £90,000 has been raised.
The past few weeks’ draws also saw a further five families receive £25 each. Cash prizes range from £25 to the jackpot of £25,000 if all six numbers are matched.
The lucky winner said: “I never expected to win anything substantial, it was more a case of supporting local causes with the added benefit of a chance to win a prize. The money will make a big difference to my family. I would urge anyone who values their local community to play so their chosen charity can benefit. This is more important than ever in these challenging times.”
The Fleet winner chose to support Fleet Men’s Shed, one of more than 70 good causes registered with the lottery. The winner added: “I love the concept of the cause and feel anything that promotes a sense of community should be nurtured and supported.”
Hart District Council chairman Cllr John Kennett, said: “I am delighted to hear of such a large win for one of our residents and this will hopefully encourage others to play, particularly when we have additional technology prizes being launched in November.
