Hospice gives a special thanks to student volunteers

-

A CHARITY is this week paying its thanks to all the students who volunteer to help it continue to provide vital supportive and end of life care to people who are living with an advanced or terminal illness.

During Student Volunteering Week (which came to an end on Sunday), Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, in Farnham, celebrated its student volunteers who give up their time by helping out in its hospice, Beacon Centre and shops.

Many of Phyllis Tuckwell’s student volunteers have gone on to successful careers in health care after gaining experience of working in an environment where they have been able to learn about palliative care, develop their skills and really feel that they can make a difference.

Because of coronavirus restrictions, Phyllis Tuckwell is unable to take on any new volunteers in its shops at the moment, but once lockdown is over and it is able to re-open them, its voluntary services team will be looking for help once more.

Julia Morpeth, voluntary services manager at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “We’d like to thank all of our student volunteers who so generously give their time to help us provide our care.

“We are looking forward to when we are able to take on more student volunteers once again.

“If you’re thinking of volunteering, please do get in touch with us once lockdown is over as we would love to chat to you about volunteering for Phyllis Tuckwell.”

You can contact Phyllis Tuckwell’s voluntary services team by calling 01252 729400 or emailing voluntary. services@pth.org.uk
