Walker looks forward to Sahara adventure
A MAN working in Farnborough will embark on a trek across the Sahara next month to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Peter Wilson, a launch project manager at everyLIFE Technologies, will cross the plains of the desert in Morocco covering 26 miles, the equivalent to just under a marathon.
The challenge has a personal significance for Mr Wilson who was struck with an undiagnosed illness last year which left him unable to walk, stand or sit without considerable pain.
Having made improvements with the support of his family, friends, doctors and colleagues at everyLIFE Technologies, he is eager to succeed in his trek.
Mr Wilson said: “I’ll be walking to raise much-needed funds for the amazing work of the Alzheimer’s Society, and in memory of my brother Jonathan and my dad who passed last year.
“After my recent medical history, the trek will be a significant challenge, though given my love for Islamic culture and the world of Sufism in particular, a visit to the beautiful country of Morocco will be an experience in itself.”
Mr Wilson’s funds will contribute towards much-needed research and care for those living with dementia.
Duncan Campbell, director at everyLIFE Technologies, said: “We are all extremely proud of Peter for setting this immense challenge for himself. Testament to his strong character, this trek comes after a difficult illness, but we look forward to seeing him succeed.
“everyLIFE Technologies commend the Alzheimer’s Society for their invaluable work, and we wish Peter the best of luck in this important fundraising endeavour.”
