Constable completes impressive campaign
FLEET racer Jac Constable finished sixth overall in the hotly-contested TCR-UK Championship after taking two podiums in the three-race finale at Donington.
The 23-year-old, part of Power Maxed Racing, was second in free practice before qualifying in fourth, just a few tenths of a second away from pole.
In race one, Constable grabbed second on the first lap, a position he would hold until the penultimate lap, when pushing too hard on a corner would see him briefly leave the track. He crossed the line a more than respectable third, earning his first visit to the podium of the day.
The second race called for a topsix reverse grid, meaning Constable would start from fourth, although this would not pose a challenge to the plucky youngster. On lap three he demonstrated why he is worthy of being crowned champion in numerous series, heading into a corner with three other cars, coming out in front. He led until the end, taking another win during the season and accruing yet more championship points.
Race three, and the final race of the season, began well for Constable as he and the similar Leon Cupra TCR of Bruce Winfield battled for the lead from the start. Unfortunately, contact between the two would see Constable come off worse, with his car ending up in the gravel at Craners Curves, ending his race and his season.
In the end Constable would finish the campaign a highly respectable sixth overall, which is a fantastic result for his first ever foray into front wheel drive racing.
