A&F District Schools are back in the goals

-

ALDERSHOT & Farnborough District Schools football teams have made a stellar start to the new season.

The under-15s started their season last week on the road to Basingstoke and, while dominating the game, slipped to a 1-0 loss.

However, they responded to this defeat on Saturday with a dominant performance and 5-3 win away to Gosport and Fareham Schools, with two goals from the in-form Louis Pask and one each from James Bowler, Harrison Davey and Oliver St Vincent.

The squad has been reshaped over the summer after losing several players to the border realignment from the ESFA, but look strong and newcomer from Court Moor, Leonardo Pinto-Grinham, was in excellent form in the midfield alongside Salesian College star Aubrey Chisholm.

The U14s have had a very busy week.

Fresh from winning the National Crown earlier this month against Liverpool Schools, they took on both

Basingstoke and Gosport & Fareham.

On Wednesday night at Salesian College Sports Grounds they put in an impressive performance to beat Basingstoke 5-0 with debut goals from Reece Wareham (two), Owen Tye (two) and a rocket from Lewis Mandaza. The backline looked particularly impressive with Hayden Stedman shining brightly amongst many strong performances.

They followed up this win with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Gosport & Fareham on Saturday, with goals from Salesian College’s Alex Faux and a late winner from Robert Mays’ Harley Platel, after great work from Thomas Neail, Jay Mason and George Turner in the build-up led to a sweetly-struck half volley high into the net.

The U11s start their campaign Wednesday night against Bournemouth Schools under the lights at Salesian College on the Wilson Pitch, with the U13s also starting their season on Saturday against Gosport & Fareham Schools.
