Elderly residents enjoy movie date under the stars
A CARE home in Blackwater organised an outdoor cinema experience to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Gracewell of Camberley, in Fernhill Road, raised £200 during the event on Thursday September 23 with 50 people attending including staff, residents and their families.
Hosted in the gardens at the care home, the event was organised as a way to bring people together after lockdown. Attendees enjoyed the film classic Mamma Mia on the big screen and tucked into hot dogs, popcorn and hot drinks while wrapped up in blankets.
Jeorgia Jones, home admission advisor at the care home, said: “The event was a huge success. Not only did it provide a great opportunity for our team, residents and their families to enjoy some valuable time together, but we managed to raise a fantastic amount of money for a great cause.
“It was such a unique experience for many of us, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the evening.”
Guests were treated to added entertainment when the care home’s team members dressed up as popcorn, ketchup and hot dogs.
Sheila Easy, a resident at the home, attended with her grandson and enjoyed being able to watch a film with family and friends.
She said: “It really was a lovely occasion. The blankets kept us warm, the film was great and the popcorn was lovely.
“It was a really different experience for us all.”
TINY is a mature lady aged 15 who needs a peaceful home to retire to. She will be a good companion as she is very loving and craves attention.
She has joint pain in her back legs which is controlled by monthly injections. Any new owner would need to be prepared to continue with this veterinary treatment and the cost that comes with it.
Tiny really does not like other cats so needs to be the only one in the house. She is also not suitable to be homed with dogs.
She needs a quiet, adult-only home where there is someone there to keep her company as much as possible. She also needs outdoor access so must have a garden in a safe area well away from busy roads or railways.
Farnham, Camberley and Districts Cats Protection’s volunteers are hoping someone special will give her the forever home she deserves. Those who can offer a home to Tiny can get in touch on 01252 334 644.
The charity is a dedicated group of volunteers who help find new homes for unwanted and abandoned cats in the Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire areas.
